Course Objectives

    Review of anatomy and physiology. Describe common interventions and surgery for each organ system. Review of anesthetic effects on each system.

  • PACU Complications

    In every system module there is a review of complications with description, incidence, signs & symptoms, and lastly interventions.

  • Phases of Care

    Throughout the system modules a review of all phases of care will be completed. Beginning with pre-admission screening (PAS/PAT), then pre-op assessments, phase I care, phase II care, and lastly discharge instructions.

Nurse Cathy has been in healthcare for over 3 decades! CNA at 15y/o, LPN at 17 y/o, BSN class of 2000, Neumann University in Aston, PA. Her bedside clinical experience is VAST! Encompassing Critical Care specialties such as; MICU, CCU, SICU, NeuroICU, Interventional Radiology (Body&NeuroIR), and prior Clinical West Coast Educator for the Arctic Sun™ with a focus on Targeted Temperature Management (TTM). Since 2016, a year after her second son was born, she transitioned into #PerianesthesiaNursing, #PhaseI #PACU in Bend, Oregon. Then in the Fall of 2019 she passed the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse test, #CPAN®. She has worked in multiple West Coast Periopertive/Perianesthesia Departments and discovered a systemic need for specialty education. This led her to test her #NeedsGap on YouTube. "I was testing to see if there were other nurses interested in growing their knowledge of #PhaseIPACU Nursing. Thus, PACU Nursing Minutes (PNM) YouTube channel was born in September of 2020. Viewer and subscriber growth has been consistent. This growth grew Cathy's confidence to begin her dream job, to be a full-time perianesthesia educator! But, instead of working for a hospital she is now a nurse entrepreneur contributing to her fellow #NursingTribe! To date #PNM has helped 69 RN's obtain #CAPA® or #CPAN® certification in perianesthesia nursing! "Nurses ARE My WHY!"
